Congratulations National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists from the Class of 2024
Mr. John P. Pascale, Principal of Mahwah High School, is proud to announce that a member of the Class of 2024 has been designated as a National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist. Merrick T. Sharp is the recipient of this honor. He has been named as a member of the top 16,000 students from the original pool of 1.3 million juniors who took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) in 2022.
Officials of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC®) announced the names of approximately 16,000 Semifinalists in the 69th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,140 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $28 million that will be offered next spring. To be considered for a National Merit Scholarship® award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. About 95 percent of the Semifinalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar® title.
Congratulations to Merrick on this wonderful accomplishment.
