Congratulations National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists from the Class of 2021
Mr. John P. Pascale, Principal of the Mahwah High School, is proud to announce that two members of the Class of 2021 have been designated Nation Merit Scholarship Semifinalists. Oliver J. Wang and Zachary S. Hauk are the recipients of this honor. They have been named as members of the top 16,000 students from the original pool of 1.5 million juniors who took the PSAT in 2019.
Officials of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced the names of approximately 16,000 Semifinalists in the 66th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million that will be offered next spring. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship® award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to Finalist level of the competition. Over 90 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and more than half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar® title.
Congratulations to Oliver and Zachary on this wonderful achievement.
