Our new 5-year Strategic Plan, titled The Flight of the Thunderbird, which was a collective effort with our community, will be fully rolled out at the start of the school year. Our short and long-term focus continues to be on ensuring high-level curriculum & instruction, strengthening community connections, maintaining & enhancing our facilities, and continuing to support both social & emotional well-being of all our students.
Dear Mahwah School Community,
On behalf of the Trustees on Board of Education, I would like to personally welcome you and your students back to school for the 2025-2026 academic year! We hope that you had a restful and recharged summer, and you’re excited for the start of a new school year! We have worked diligently over the summer to ensure that our schools are ready for our students, staff, and families to return!
As a Board, we have been busy working on several things for this upcoming school year, and would like to highlight a few of the important ones:
1. Our new 5-year Strategic Plan, titled The Flight of the Thunderbird, which was a collective effort with our community, will be fully rolled out at the start of the school year. Our short and long-term focus continues to be on ensuring high-level curriculum & instruction, strengthening community connections, maintaining & enhancing our facilities, and continuing to support both social & emotional well-being of all our students.
2. Our Board goals which were developed at our annual retreat will focus on continuing policy review of series 2000 & 8000 to ensure that our policies and regulations are up to date, and successful planning and execution of a district-wide public referendum.
3. Our Board was recognized by New Jersey School Boards Association as a Board of distinction within Bergen County for our strong commitment to effective governance and continuous improvement through training.
We encourage you and your students to remain connected and explore all the variety of things that our district offers academically, socially, and through our sports and extracurricular activities. We encourage you to attend one of our Board meetings, please check out the schedule on the website, and we welcome you to share your feedback with us through our Board e-mails.
We are committed to support and work collaboratively with Dr. DeTuro and our Administrative Team to ensure that your students receive a high-quality education while feeling safe and comfortable in our school buildings.
