Foundation Sponsors ‘Day In Clay’ for Each Elementary School
Thanks to the Mahwah Schools Foundation, students at all 3 K-3 elementary schools are enjoying vessel-making workshops.
Lenape Meadows third-graders welcomed “Day in Clay” for an interactive workshop on constructing vessels from clay.
Artist Cliff Mendelson from Day in Clay provided instruction and Lenape Meadows art teacher Courtney Harrington assisted as students learned ceramic techniques necessary for the task at hand. Mr. Mendelson wove in cultural traditions as students and staff members worked with materials and tools for a truly hands-on art experience.
The special event was part of a series funded through the generosity of the Mahwah Schools Foundation. Each of Mahwah’s three K-3 elementary schools will have a similar workshop.
Day in Clay, based in Tomkins Cove, N.Y., offers multi-cultural ceramic arts programming for students in kindergarten through grade 12.
