One of the ways we would like to support our parents here at Betsy Ross is through this Parent Education page. The HSO has two parent nights a year where they go over topics that are concerning to parents. We will place those program materials here for your reference. The Parent Education page will also provide family members resources and webinars that will focus on school-based programs, ways to support your students in and outside of school, and current parenting topics that may be of interest to you.
1. HSO Parent Education Night - Tech Talk - Bullying
Here are downloadable files that were presented at the HSO Tech Talk in October:
The NJ Department of Education provides a wealth of resources for families to promote learning outside of school, from ideas for "family field trips" to tips for helping children with homework.
The Child Mind Institute is a non-profit organization that focuses on children with learning differences and supporting mental health during the childhood years. A variety of recorded workshops are available on learning, behavior, and emotions.
4. NYU Parent Webinars
NYU Langone Medical Center's Child Study Team presents webinars that offer advice and tips on effective parenting, managing stress, and improving children's emotional health.
5. Responsive Classroom for Parents
Our teachers practice Responsive Classroom techniques on a daily basis to promote a safe, calm, respectful, and enriching learning environment. This pamphlet provides parents with information regarding these practices and gives tips for carry-over into the home.
