The Student Assistance Counselor (SAC) is the primary counseling and intervention specialist in most New Jersey schools. The SAC is trained to assist students in coping with emotional, psychological, or behavioral issues.
Students can schedule appointments with the SAC to discuss issues such as: self esteem and image, academic motivation, family conflict, depression, suicidal thoughts, self-injury, school problems, difficuly peer interactions, relationship issues, eating disorders, stress, drug/alcohol issues, or any other topic.
Students can also be referred by parents, teachers, guidance counselors, administrators, school nurses, or friends.
Services are confidential.
