  • Spring Athletic and Co-curricular Eligibility Rules

    Our primary goal at Mahwah High School is to provide outstanding academic, athletic and co-curricular programs that ensure equal educational opportunity for all our students.  The major responsibilities of the staff are to prepare each student to earn a living, to assume citizenship duties, and to become a life-long learner.  Participation in interscholastic athletics and co-curricular activities is a privilege.  In order to be able to participate in the interscholastic athletic program a student must fulfill eligibility requirements effective starting spring season 2018 for all classes.  Please click here for more information.

  • NEW GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

    The New Jersey Department of Education has released new high school graduation requirements including changes to participation in the PARCC exams for students in the Class of 2020 and Class of 2021.  Please read the attached letters clarifying these changes.

  • Early Dismissal Procedures

    Office staff will not interrupt a class to get a student for an early dismissal.   • New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) Eligibility Rules


    Fall/Winter Athletic Season [ First Semester ] : To be eligible for athletic competition for the fall and winter athletic seasons, students must have successfully fulfilled the academic and attendance requirements for 30.0 credits (a minimum of six, five credit courses) of coursework from the preceding academic year. The first semester rule does not apply to incoming ninth grade students for the fall and winter seasons.

    Spring Athletic Season [Second Semester] : To be eligible for athletic competition for the spring season, all students must have successfully fulfilled the academic and attendance requirements for 15.00 credits (a minimum of six, five credit courses) of coursework from the preceding academic semester.

    In order to ensure spring athletic eligibility, students must be in compliance with the district’s attendance policy; and must have passing (= or >65%) midyear averages in all full year courses and passing final grades in all semester courses they are enrolled at the close of semester 1(@January 31st).
